Description:
The top of its body is shiny black with white edged yellow crossbars and has a total length of 50 cm. The body is slender and sub-cylindrical, with a flattened head. The eyes are small and have a vertical pupil, and the tail is long. The dorsal (upper) surface is smooth [5].

Behaviour: Shy and alert, this species typically exhibits non-aggressive behaviour. When threatened, it prefers to escape; however, if further disturbed, it coils its body with its head tucked underneath for protection [5].
