Description:
The mushroom is large and fleshy. Its cap (top structure) can reach up to 10 cm in width, exhibiting a purplish-red hue with a darker centre. The texture is slightly frosty and features a net-like pattern. The skin of the cap peels off easily, revealing a pink layer underneath. The edges of the cap have shallow grooves. Beneath the cap, the gills are slightly creamy with reddish edges near the stem and outer edge, while they appear white elsewhere. The stem is pale and narrows slightly towards the bottom, displaying a dark pink colour at the top and a firm consistency. Inside, the mushroom is soft, turning a bit grey, with darker grey spots at the base of the stem. It has a mild and nutty flavour, accompanied by a slight acidic scent, but lacks a strong smell. The spores are whitish, and there is no significant reaction with iron sulphate [4].
