Description:
This species is notable for its translucent body adorned with brown to black stripes on the front part of its body. M. lanchesteri typically reaches lengths of about 5 to 10 cm. They often exhibit a range of colors, from transparent to light brown, with variations in patterns and markings that can help them blend into their environments. Males possess larger, more prominent claws compared to females, which are used for display and combat during mating rituals. The head has rostrum (the forward extension of the head) is either straight or slightly bent upwards, and it either barely reaches or slightly goes beyond the antennal scale (a part of the antenna). On the upper side, it has between 5 to 10 teeth, including 1 or 2 located just behind the eye area and 0 to 2 near the tip. The underside has 2 to 6 teeth. The antennal spine (a bony projection) is located on the edge and extends well beyond the antennal lobe. Source: [4], [5], [6]
